The Department of Trade and Market Development of the zone announced that 213,820 quintals of sesame production from Central Gondar Zone have been supplied to the central market.

 

In a statement issued today by the head of the department, Ato Aichaw Tarekne, the peace prevailing in the area has created favorable conditions for supplying agricultural products to the central market.

 

With this, the zone planned to supply more than 300,000 quintals of sesame production to the central market in the 2016/17 production season, and 213,820 quintals of sesame production collected in December have been supplied.

 

He indicated that cooperation with stakeholders is being carried out to supply sesame production to the central market in the coming months, and 33,000 quintals of sesame produced in West Gondar Zone have been sent to the central market.

 

In addition to sesame, it was planned to supply 250,000 quintals of soybeans to domestic agricultural processing industries during the production season, of which more than 103,000 quintals were supplied. He explained that two thousand quintals of masho have been supplied to the foreign market in line with the plan to supply the same to the foreign market.

 

In the Central Gondar Zone, more than 40,000 hectares of land were cultivated in five districts that are sesame growers during the 2016/17 production season, EZA reported.
