One of the 35 places with the highest biodiversity in the world, the Kafa dense forest is one of the natural wonders of our country, registered by the International Institute of Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO).

 

Kefa is located 460 kilometers from Addis Ababa in the southern direction of Ethiopia. Currently, it is a biodiversity reserve located in the newly established region of Southwest Ethiopia.

 

The 540,000-hectare dense forest is home to nearly 5,000 plant species. According to data, 17 types of rare indigenous plant species are found in this dense forest center.

 

The Kafa forest is also the home of Kafa forest coffee, which is distinguished by its taste and is the most famous in the world.

 

Three big rivers named "Gojeb", "Dincha" and "Wishi" flow continuously throughout the year in this wilderness forest.

 

It can be said by looking at the thickest forest in the area that it is an area where they can live in harmony without being harmed by humans and nature.

 

In fact, the local people seem to believe that they cannot live without nature.

 

Forest is the thing for all Kafa people, it is their shelter, medicine and food too.

 

The dense forest is not only for Ethiopia but also the world's best gift of nature, so UNESCO has recognized it and registered it.

 

Like the Kaffa dense forest, the Yayo, Sheka, Gambela and Bale mountains are rich in dense forest in various parts of Ethiopia.

 

In our country, by taking care of and protecting places like the Kaffa forest, and by expanding the green footprint program that has been started, it will make its universal benefits meaningful.
