Addis Ababa, Minister of Transport and Logistics Mrs. Dagmawit Moges stated that in order to build an economy that is invulnerable to climate change, transport and logistics services focused on electricity are being made accessible.

 

A consultation is being held at Bahirdar University Institute of Technology on the theme of "Encouraging healthy transportation" based on electricity.

 

As Mrs. Dagmawit Moges stated in the consultation forum, severe droughts, floods and other problems are occurring in the world due to climate change.

 

He said that since the transport and logistics sector is dependent on oil, it is one of the causes of climate change.

 

He said that an incentive system has been set up to put electric vehicles and public transports into service in the next 10 years.

 

Bahirdar University has also designed a curriculum to help expand electric transport services and its efforts to produce skilled manpower are encouraged and appropriate support will be provided, he said.

 

The President of Bahirdar University, Dr. Frew Atde, said that the university is working based on research to provide the skilled and sufficient human resources that the country's economy needs.
