Addis Ababa won the Bloomberg Bicycle Infrastructure Initiative Award.

 

Addis Ababa is one of the ten cities in the world that won the Bloomberg Initiative for Cycling Infrastructure (BICI) initiative.

275 cities from 5 continents submitted proposals and 10 cities won the competition.

 

Bloomberg Initiative Winner Countries; Including Ethiopia, Brazil, India, Italy, Albania, New Zealand, Portugal, Colombia, Kenya, and Mozambique.

 

Addis Ababa City's work to build the largest bicycle street in Africa and the proposal it presented to take this success to a higher level in the future made it the winner.

 

The city of Addis Ababa will receive 400,000 dollars in this initiative, which aims to prevent climate change and provide more transportation options for the people.

 

It is stated that the winning cities will be given technical support in addition to financial support.

 

Cities will use funding from the Bloomberg Initiative to build bike lanes to improve the health and safety of residents and promote sustainable transportation.
