By the end of the fiscal year, work is being done to reach more than 61 thousand kilometers of road coverage in the Oromia region.

By the end of the current fiscal year, the Roads and Logistics Bureau of the region has announced that it is working to reach 61 thousand 513.97 kilometers of road coverage in the Oromia region.

The head of the office, Engineer Helen Tamru, told Fana Broadcasting Corporation that 413.88 kilometers of new roads were constructed in the last half of the fiscal year.

He stated that the road coverage of the region which was 58 thousand 981 point 30 kilometers last year has reached 59 thousand 381 point 33 kilometers.

He also recalled that the road coverage of the region was 8 thousand 507 kilometers in 1985/86.

In half a year, nine bridges were built and completed, and 4 thousand 298 kilometers of roads were repaired, Engineer Helen said.

He said that more than 148.7 million Birr was spent for this.

He said that in the completed half of the fiscal year, the office has implemented 123.3 percent of the plan and has spent more than 964 million birr on services.

The head of the office explained that the construction and maintenance of new roads were done by the federal and state governments as well as the community.

On the other hand, the construction of an integrated bus station in Shashemene city was also mentioned.
