Federal Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Demeke Mekonon started his visit to four African countries today in Tanzania.
When Ato Demeke entered Zanzibar, his Tanzanian counterpart, Sithegomina Tax, received him.
Mr. Demeke Mekonon, who started his visit in Tanzania, will continue in Comoros, Burundi and Uganda.
Ato Demeke consulted with Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu on bilateral and regional issues.
In their discussion, they explained that Ethiopia will pay attention to its relations with Tanzania.
He pointed out that Ethiopia wants their relationship to be strengthened in the economic field as well.
Ato Demeke said that the government wants to strengthen peace by implementing the Pretoria Peace Agreement.
He mentioned that issues related to the Great Renaissance Dam are being resolved through dialogue under the auspices of the African Union.
In addition, they emphasized that the intervention of the Arab League is inappropriate.
Deputy Prime Minister Demeke confirmed that Ethiopia will provide the necessary support for the peaceful resolution of the situation in Sudan.
Samia Suluhu, on the other hand, stated that it is her country's desire to strengthen bilateral relations with Ethiopia, especially in the field of aviation, tourism and culture.
They confirmed that Tanzania supports the efforts of the Ethiopian government to establish and maintain peace.
Information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicates that an agreement has been reached to jointly prevent human trafficking.
Ato Demeke asked that the Ethiopians who were deceived by smugglers and arrested in Tanzania should be treated appropriately.
It has been pointed out that the Ethiopian Embassy in Tanzania has returned 2,500 Ethiopians to their country in the last few months and is working to return the rest.
