Businesses that harmed competing traders and consumers were fined more than 18 million birr

The Ministry of Justice has announced that two business organizations that caused damage to competing traders and consumers have been fined more than 18 million birr.

 

"Huasheng Cables" Manufacturing Pvt. Ltd. has been fined for producing substandard electrical cables and providing consumers with misleading information about its products, which harms competitors and consumers.

 

Similarly, the company named "Sahima Jamal Saeed" was brought to court and punished for harming the commercial interests of a competitor by importing and selling counterfeit beauty products.

 

The Ministry of Justice has announced that the companies were fined by the Ministry of Trade and Regional Discipline for violating Article 8 of the Commercial Competition and Consumer Protection Decree No. 813/2006.

 

Their charges were brought to court and debated, and after investigating the case with evidence, it was confirmed that the defendants had engaged in unfair business competition and according to Article 42/3 of the Decree, they were fined 5% of their annual sales revenue.

 

According to the decision, "Huasheng Cables" Manufacturing Pvt. Ltd. 17 million 733 thousand 946, "Sahima Jamal Saeed" 424 thousand 370 birr, a total of 18 million 158 thousand 317 birr, according to the information obtained from the Ministry of Justice.
