In Oromia region, 4.7 million students benefited from the school meal service

Addis Ababa, The education office of the region announced that 4.7 million students in Oromia region benefit from school meals.

According to the deputy head of the office, Mr. Girma Baisa told Fana Broadcasting Corporation, the necessary monitoring is being done to prevent students from dropping out of school due to various man-made and natural reasons.

He said that it is being done in coordination with the relevant bodies so that students in drought-affected areas of the region are not interrupted from their studies.

For this reason, he pointed out that in the current fiscal year of the region, more than 7.5 million students have been planned to benefit from the school meal service.

At present, 4.7 million students are benefiting from the school meal service, Mr. Girma said.

He said that all pre-primary students and students from classes 1 to 4 in government schools are beneficiaries of school feeding services.

He explained that students from 1st to 8th grade, including pre-school students, are the beneficiaries of the service in pastoral areas.

He emphasized that the school feeding service that was started in the pastoral areas of the region has made a significant contribution to prevent students from dropping out of school.

The deputy head confirmed that more than 10.6 million students are currently attending their studies in the Oromia region.
