The fact that not all political parties have participated in the consultations could, in one way or another, prevent the consultation process from being complete, it was stated.
This statement was made by the National Dialogue Commission.
Last Tuesday, the National Dialogue Commission, which was granted an additional year of operation, made this remark during a press conference held today at Bole Skylight Hotel for journalists, addressing its three-year work performance.
The Chief Commissioner of the Commission, Professor Mesfin Araya, stated that for the national dialogue to be comprehensive, all political parties must participate. He noted that out of nearly 70 legally licensed political parties operating in the country, 57 are currently working with the Commission.
The Commission reported that in 10 regions and the two city administrations, more than 1,260 agenda documents have been collected from the public, identifying issues that serve as obstacles to consensus, with the aim of resolving them.
The National Dialogue Commission explained that it has conducted participant identification processes in the Amhara region, except in eight districts, and clarified that it will complete the agenda collection within the additional one-year period granted to it.
Commissioner Mesfin Araya stated that the Commission has not yet started any work in the Tigray region. He added that within the one-year extension granted, they plan to complete the consultation and agenda collection process in the Tigray region.
