In this video we delve deep in the fact about the artists and their relationship.

We were informed by Ato Dagnachew Shiferaw, Head of the Operations Sector at the Addis Ababa Transport Bureau, that the city will transition to that transport system because its future transport policy and strategy promotes buses and minibuses (carrying more than 25 people) over Code One taxis.

The official stated that one bus carries the equivalent of about 8 taxis, and from the perspectives of reducing road congestion, equitable fare rates, fuel savings, and reducing air pollution, it is preferable for the city to become a user of mass transport services, including buses and minibuses carrying more than 25 people. He advised the community to develop its habit of using mass transport.

The Deputy Head of the Transport Bureau's Operations Sector said that most of the #Code_One_Taxis currently in the city are old and do not meet the city's taxi standards; therefore, it is necessary for them to be phased out of the transport system.

Responding to a question about whether people would lose their jobs when Code One taxis are removed from the transport service, the official told us that, with government support, work is being done to upgrade Code One taxis into minibuses that carry more than 25 people.

The official stated that the recent bans on taxis operating from the New Market-Megenagna and Megenagna-New Market routes, Gergi-Megenagna and Megenagna-Gergi routes, as well as Jemo-Megenagna and Megenagna-Jemo routes are part of this policy and strategy. However, he explained that the primary reason was that taxis operating on these major, long-distance routes in the city, such as Jemo, Gergi, and New Market, were blocking the road and charging above the official fare rate.

It was stated that under the new transport policy and strategy, a rapid bus route from Jemo via Kera to Piassa will be launched starting from 2018. Furthermore, we heard from the official that after two years, Addis Ababa will have a rapid bus transport service that does not interface with taxis.
