#Ethiopia Ethiopia's Ashete won the Rotterdam Marathon in the Netherlands with a great performance. The 35-year-old Ethiopian, who won the 2018 Valencia and 2019 Berlin marathons, finished the Rotterdam race in 2:19:30.
When Ashete won the same Rotterdam Marathon in 2019, her time was 2:22:55, and with her current result, she improved her previous time by more than 3 minutes. Kenyans Viola Kibiot finished second in 2:20:57 and Sally Chepyegon Kaptich third in 2:22:46.
In the men's race, Amdework Waleleni finished second with a time of 2:04:50. Amdewerk, who was leading the race until the last few hundred meters, was overtaken by Dutchman Abdi Negye. Somali-born Abdi took 2:04:45 to finish the race. The Ethiopian Brihanu Legese finished the race in third place in 2:05:16.
Before the start of the race, Kelvin Kiptum, the world marathon record holder, who tragically lost his life in a car accident in February and who had already come out to run this marathon, was prayed for a minute of conscience.
