  • Ethiopian Electric Power Begins Construction Of 38-Storey HQ With 2.4 Bln Birr

     

    Addis Ababa, March 15, 2019 (KD) –Construction of the 38-storey new headquarter building (HQ) of the Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP) has official begun today at around Mexico square.

    Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of EEP, Dr Abrham Belay, and Gao Lei, General Manager of CGCOC Ethiopia attended the launching ceremony.

    The headquarter building will be undertaken on 47,881 sqm by the Chinese CGCOC Ethiopia at a cost of 2.4 billion birr to be financed by EEP itself.

  • Minister Of Peace Visits IDPs In Gedeo Zone

     

    Addis Ababa, March 15, 2019 (FBC) –The Ministry of Peace Mrs Muferiat Kamil today visited internally displaced persons (IDPs) sheltered in Gedeb district, Gedeo zone, Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples’ (SNNP) regional state.

    Muferiat told the IDPs who are sheltered at the Gedeb stadium that the government will step up its efforts to find lasting solution for the problem.

    More than 96,000 IDPs are curtly sheltered at the stadium, according to the Ethiopian News Agency.

  • Ethiopia Launches Five-Year National Health Security Action Plan

     

    Addis Ababa, March 15, 2019 –Ethiopia has officially launched a five-year National Action Planning for Health Security (NAPHS) today.

    The action plan which runs 2019-2023 is well aligned with the country’s overall health policy, it was noted.

    World Health Organization (WHO) congratulated the country for launching the action plan, which is expected to bring significance improvement to the capacities to prevent, detect and respond to health threats.

    NAPHS is a country owned, multi-year, planning process that can accelerate the implementation of international health regulations (IHR) core capacities, and is based on a one health for all-hazards, whole-of-government approach.

    It captures national priorities for health security, brings sectors together, identifies partners and allocates resources for health security capacity development.

  • Ethiopia, France Sign Seven Agreements Following Macron’s Visit

     

    Addis Ababa, March 15, 2019 (FBC) – A total of seven agreements-one public and six private, have been signed on the sidelines of the state visit of France President Emmanuel Macron to Ethiopia.

    The French President paid a two-day state visit to Ethiopia this week. He also visited the Rock-Hewn Churches of Lalibela, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in Amhara regional state.

    Following the visit, the two countries signed the following seven cooperation agreements:

    • Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ethiopian Space Science and Technology Institute and the National Center for Space Studies on Cooperation of Space Activities
    • Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Castel Group and the Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC) for the construction of the SOMDIAA maize processing plant
    • Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between CMA CGM and the local MACCFA company for the creation of a joint venture
    • Letter of intent between CMA CGM and Ethiopian Shipping & Logistics Services Enterprise (ESLSE) for the management of Modjo Dry Port
    • Letter of intent between Meridiam, Global Infrastructure Hub and the Ethiopian Ministry of Finance for the implementation of the Africa Infrastructure Fellowship Program (AIFP)
    • Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Canal + Group and Mr. TEODROS for the Implementation of a Distribution Agreement for the Commercialization of a Pay-TV Offer
    • Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Bolloré Africa Logistics and the local company CLS Logistics for the creation of a joint venture
